Sanderson Farms 2020 | 10 Key Stats

The Sanderson Farms Championship is this week’s PGA Tour stop, and it’s primed to surrender another -20 victor. Scoring will be prevalent as a slightly stronger field versus years past set their sights on the Country Club of Jackson. We’ve seen plenty of triple digit winners here in recent history in terms of the odds market with the last 2 winners coming in at a “short” 66-1.

The Country Club of Jackson is our host course this week set up for the boys to completely bend over and make their biyatch. It’s a par 72 a little over 7,400 yards that features Bermuda through and through. The fairways are generous, the greens are average in size, and the greens are grainy AF bermuda. This course has produced 6 straight first time winners with Munoz & Champ being the most recent. Length is an advantage, but not a prerequisite for success. However, with our last 2 winners, it’s clearly a viable strategy to bomb and gouge with no regard for finding fairways. However, putting and chipping on grainy Bermuda should be a prerequisite. Let’s take a look at who’s poppin!

1. Strokes gained tee to green from last year’s Sanderson Farms: 1. Frittelli 2. Tringale 3. Ortiz 4. Im 5. Ben An 6. Poston 7. Grillo 8. Harman 9. Burgoon 10. Munoz

2. Historical GIR leaders at CC of Jackson (min 8 rounds): 1. McGirt 2. Rodgers 3. Scheffler 4. Glover 5. Mahan 6. Kirk 7. Hadley 8. Percy 9. Ortiz 10. Taylor

4. If I make a custom model with courses that are 7200-7400 yards, bermuda greens, and difficult to hit fairways, your top 10 in total strokes gained are: 1. Stenson 2. Reavie 3. Im 4. Ben An 5. Stallings 6. Donald 7. Grace 8. Laird 9. Hearn 10. McGirt

5. If I make another model with JUST strokes gained ball striking on courses that are 720-7400 yards, par 72, and average to easy in scoring your top 10 are: 1. Ben An 2. Bradley 3. Grillo 4. Schwartzel 5. Dufner 6. Reavie 7. Ryder 8. Vegas 9. List 10. Redman

Cash Game

A common term used for describing contests in which the prize pool is divided in half and is awarded to the winners. Typically a 1-1 ROI. Cash Games consist of:

  • Head-to-Head (Heads Up) – A daily fantasy sports contest against a single opponent.
  • 50/50 – A league in which the top 50% of scores win. In a 50/50 league with 100 entries, the top 50 scores double their “buy-in” minus the “rake.” So even if you finish 50th in a 100-man $10 50/50, you win the same amount as the 1st-place finisher ($18).
  • Double-Up – Cash game in which players who win double their entry fee. “Double-Ups” are different from 50/50s in that those who win actually multiply their full entry (for instance, a $10 entry that wins in a Double-Up would win $20), but sites take their rakes by having fewer than half the field.
