AK's Power Plays: 2024 Masters

The Plays to win big money at the 2024 Masters

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you a special article this week.. The Power Plays! The Plays You Need to Win Big Money at the Masters.

Augusta, GA and the Augusta National Golf Club play host to the worlds best as another chapter in the LIV vs PGA battle will be waged.

ANGC plays as a Par 72, with long Par 4's many between 450-500 yards. The Par 5's are where one must really clean up in order to be in Butler Cabin Sunday night. Interesting of note is that Hole #2 has been lengthened by 10 yards with a tee box that requires a complete draw. Holes 13 and 15 will once again play as two of the most exciting par 5's in the game and provide some fireworks for any charge up the leaderboard.

As many of us have "Georgia on our minds" Let us take a look at who will help us win some money this week and secure that bag. Let's fire away with our Power Plays!

Viktor Hovland ($9,500)

Our first Power Play of the week is an elite level player who seems to be forgotten for two reasons. 1.) He has been playing poorly and 2.) We just haven't seen much of him since the West Coast Swing. Viktor Hovland, is our first Power Play of the week at $9,500.

Why This Play Works:

Viktor's short game has been horrendous of late, We cannot deny this, and ANGC is not exactly the place you want to try and find this part of your game. However when you break down the stats of Viktor's game with his projected low ownership, we have a great leverage point to win a million dollars.

Looking at Strokes Gained Off the Tee, Greens In Regulation, and Birdies on Bet The Number, Vik ranks 5th in all of these categories. Vik's putter has also been quite solid as he ranks 14th in this field.

If the Hovland that is peppering fairways and greens shows up, we have a golden opportunity to gain leverage on the field. This is especially true if players such as Joaquin Niemann are twice his ownership.

Par 5 scoring has historically been the make or break for players to wear the Green Jacket on Sunday. Viktor ranks 10th in the field for Par 5 scoring. With his pension for finding the fairways, and his ability to bomb the ball we should see Vik taking dead aim at the Par 5's.

A low owned Viktor Hovland has mega potential. We are betting on pure talent, and he is the far superior player to Joaquin Niemann, Wyndham Clark, and dare I say Xander Schauffele.

Erik Van Rooyan ($6,600)

Our Second Power Play of the Masters is someone who will help us in stacking studs at the top of our DK lineups. Erik Van Rooyan, a man who has become a next level player this season at $6,600 on DraftKings is our Second Power Play.

Why This Play Works:

When you dive into EVR's stats, you really see some juicy numbers that get you thinking he might be a dark horse winner candidate.

Par 5 scoring, as stated with Viktor Hovland is critical around ANGC. EVR ranks 5th in my BTN Model for this field. For someone at $6,600 this is hard to ignore, especially when you factor in that his ownership should be sub 5%.

EVR's SG Approach has been quite tasty as well. Ranking 19th in the field is very intriguing, especially when you consider his ability to make birdies in bunches. Ranking 26th in the field for Birdie average at his pricetag has enormous potential. When trying to ship a GPP this week, we are going to need guys who have the ability to have ceiling weeks, and EVR can certainly get there.

That's it folks for the Power Plays! We will return with our traditional Power Fade article for the RBC Heritage Next week. Be Sure to check out this week's Power Fade and be on the lookout for an exclusive Instagram Power Fade!
