Betting Outrights for The Farmers Insurance Open 2022

The Betting Approach for The Farmers Insurance Open 2022

Fresh off a huge 250/1 hit last week, I'm ready to keep the train moving as we look to bet outright winners for the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open from beautiful Torrey Pines.

The sportsbooks have the O/U winning score line set at -14.5. While this isn't the birdie bonanza that we've seen the last few weeks, the weather and conditions do look fairly optimal for scoring this time of year at Torrey Pines. There doesn't appear to be any advantage at all for the first 2 rounds (round 1 starts on WEDNESDAY) as the wind is a non factor. We could see some breezy conditions on Friday and Saturday though.

It's a short week, and I've got 2 emails to get ready for today, so I'm making this short and sweet. Let's get to the outright bets I'm digging for the Farmers!

More Intel on Torrey Pines

If you're looking for a more in depth look at how Torrey Pines will play, then check out the our Weekly Preview write up by Nut Hut Butler, Anthony Charter (aka AC). We've also got a new secret weapon every week in the Nut Hut as we've added John Rathouz (aka CaddieHouse), 10+ year PGA TOUR Caddie. John will be in the Nut Hut every week sharing insights on the courses, how they're playing and what he's hearing from ground zero that week.

If you're in the Nut Hut and you've not scrolled the #Caddie-Info channel this week...you're missing out on a TON of information. The chat tonight will cover everything from strategy in GPPs, cash games, betting, weather and tee time wave advantages, and of course picks & fades. If you'd like more detail on the weather and our thoughts, then check the Nut Hut and sign up for the Chalk Bomb email going out here in a few hours.

This is NOT Your Mama's Betting Article

I bet on golf for fun. You should too. Life is too short to bet favorites! Therefore, I don't get the betting erection I crave betting guys at 18/1 or 9/1. I realize that may be the sharper way to do things, but F that. I've felt the rush of have a big triple digit winning golf bet hit...and Daddy likes!

Throughout the season, I'm going to show you my pre tournament bets, including what I'm risking, odds, and some brief logic behind the pick. I'm actually betting these guys. I'm taking $50 a week at $10 per unit to show you how I allot my dollars. Follow along, bet with me if you like, or completely fade everyone on this betting card. Up to you. I finished the 2019-2020 PGA Tour season up 10 units over 30 weeks & the 2020-2021 season up 41 units strictly betting the long shot outrights and first round leaders (nothing shorter than 25/1).

Long Shot Outright Bets for The Farmers Insurance Open 2022

[Insert evil laugh] What a Sunday we had at the Amex as Huddy Swafford let his balls drag all over the course and the field on his way to a 250/1 victory for the BBBC readers! We're not up 5 units (HA!) after winning 50 units off that single blow. Look at what I said last week below...welcome to the wildly exciting world of betting golf outrights!

I'm not panicking though. The season is long. A deficit like this can be made up with a single blow if you nail the right long shot. And well...this just happens to be a long shot bettors dream tournament given all the variance.

Outright betting card for the Farmers Insurance Open 2022

I'll make it snappy, because I've got a lot to do today with this short week. I'm leaning heavily on experience around Torrey Pines, West Coast affinity to include POA tolerance, and strong incoming form. The card ended up with more triple digit bombs than I would've thought yesterday morning, but I'm tempted by the value.

I hate having to leave out Sungjae and Willy Z, but I couldn't have the depth I wanted. I went with Leishman over those two simply due to his incredible love for Torrey and his record shows it. He's got 2 starts under his belt already in 2022 and the form looks solid.

Alright, off to write the Chalk Bomb! Have a great week and #BendOverYourBookie!
