The Power Fade: 2024 RBC Heritage

The Approach to fading big names for the 2024 RBC Heritage

What’s going on TJ Nation! Ann Arbor's Own Good Ol' AK Allen Klutts here bringing you another edition of the Power Fade: The Fades 8K and Above You Need to Smash Your DraftKings GPP's!

With Scottie Scheffeler wearing his second Green Jacket in our rearview mirror, we make our way a few hours east to Hilton Head Island and another Signature Event: The RBC Heritage.

Harbour Town Golf Links plays as a Par 71, 7,213 yards. A positional course if there ever was one on the PGA TOUR, you can find yourself in trouble from even the fairway this week.

This week will be a true test of iron play and putting. While there are only three par 5's at Harbour Town, there are opportunities to score. Expect the winning score to hover around -11 to -13 this week.

With a good showing from the Power Fade at the Masters (Clark: MC, Niemann T-22, Rahm: T-45) let us take a look at who our Power Fades will be for the RBC Heritage!

Collin Morikawa ($10,000)

Our First Power Fade of the week comes from the 10K range. A man who showed some form and for a brief minute maybe thought would be wearing a Green Jacket: Collin Morikawa is our First Power fade of the week.

Why The Fade Works:

Morikawa came out of nowhere last week to put himself into contention. Prior to the Masters, Morikawa was lost in all facets of his game. Like many of the elite level talents, when a whiff of form appears, so does the ownership.

Diving into the stats on Morikawa this week, there are some interesting finds leading us to fading the two time major champion. Collin ranks 56th in Par 4 Birdie or Better Percentage. Parlay this with a 57th Greens In Regulation and 66th SG Putting and we have to ask the question if Morikawa can go low enough to win.

While Morikawa struggles with his short game normally, this is also extremely pronounced when he plays Harbour Town.

Over the last three years, Morikawa has lost nearly 3 strokes putting in each event. If his iron play regresses back to how it was pre-Masters, then Morikawa will be struggling once again this week.

Will Zalatoris ($9,000)

Our second Power Fade of the week comes to us from the bottom of the 9K range. Will Zalatoris returns to the Power Fade this week at a flat 9K on DraftKings.

Why The Fade Works:

Willy Z has had an up and down season to say the least. We began the year thinking he was not ready to win tournaments. Seeing a bit of form got Willy Z on all our betting cards, and then he let us down with poor play.

Fast forward to present day and we may be getting a chalk Zalatoris on a course that many think is a prototype for him to succeed. The arguments we made against Morikawa stand true with WIlly Z.

Zalatoris ranks 58th in Par 4 Birdie or Better, 64th in Putting, and 49th in Par 4 Scoring Average. He is basically a carbon copy of Collin Morikawa with these stats.

Furthermore, we have only seen Zalatoris play the RBC Heritage one time. In this one edition, Zalatoris actually lost strokes in Approach and Off the Tee. If Willy Z isn't gaining in these categories, he has no chance and will be struggling to make the cut, let alone contend.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! We will be taking next week's team event in New Orleans off and return to you for the Byron Nelson!
