The Power Fade: 2023 US OPEN

The Approach to fading big names for the 2023 US Open

What’s going on TJ Nation! Allen Klutts here with another addition of The Power Fade: The Fades 8k and Above that will help you smash your DraftKings GPP's.

The PGA Tour heads to the bright lights of Hollywood for the US Open. As the stars descend on LA Country Club, they face what some describe as the toughest test in golf.

The Power Fade comes in off a solid week with the fades of Fitzpatrick and Connors, who both finished T20 and did not meet value.

I will be doing something special this week for the Power Fade as well. Not only will you get your two names in this article, I will also be doing a special 3rd Power Fade via Instagram. Follow me at Allen_Klutts906

But wait there's more!! I will also have an exclusive 4th Power Fade for the Nut Hut Family on the Wednesday Night Live Chat on Discord!. Come hang out with DB, Pat, and the fam as we talk golf, have a few laughs, and get our lineups ready for the season's third major. If you haven't signed up yet, head over to Tourjunkies.com and join the best group of people in the DFS Streets!

And now, AK Productions Presents: The 2023 US Open Power Fades!

Brooks Koepka ($10,800)

Brooks Koepka, the 2023 PGA Champion kicks off our Power Fades this week. While Brooks is a killer when it comes to majors, there are some troubling signs that point to fading Brooks as an optimal move this week.

Why The Fade Works:

LA Country Club will be a course where getting yourself into position off the tee will be at a premium. Interestingly, Koepka rates out poorly when it comes to Good Drives Gained (71st). Pair this with a 61st in Bogey Avoidance and we have a recipe for bust potential with Brooks.

Additionally, we will see five par 3's at LA Country Club this week. I will readily admit that two of these par 3's are gimmicky, but even still we find another indictment of Brooks this week. Ranking 87th in SG Par 3 gives us some pause towards rostering Koepka.

I also believe that rostering Koepka creates a dynamic where he has to finish better than Rahm and Scheffler to be optimal. Could he do this, clearly that answer is yes. The man just did it a month ago, but I am willing to take the gamble that he cannot do it again under these circumstances.

Rory McIlroy ($9,900)

Rory McIlroy comes in as our second Power Fade of the week at $9,900. While some may see a $9,900 Rory on DraftKings and say how can we not play him, I think we should take a pass on Mr. PGA Tour.

Why The Fade Works:

Rory hits the ball a mile. I am not breaking any news with that one. However, he ranks very poorly in Good Drives (83rd). This is an interesting fact considering people consider Rory to be God-like with a driver in his hands.

Much like Brooks, McIlroy struggles in bogey avoidance in this field. Ranking 40th, Rory has been prone to bogey's at crucial times, many of which come from his poor Good Drives stats.

Lastly, I think the Strokes Gained Mental Game is in the negative for Rory. Something is clearly off with him. I understand winning is hard, I'm not saying he is a loser or a choker. However, it seems like we have an incredibly inconsistent Rory. One hole or a small stretch of holes seemingly dooms him every week. If he does that at LA CC, we might even see Rory trunk slam Friday night.

That's it folks for this week's edition of the Power Fade! I will return to you next week as we head to the Travelers Championship.
