DraftKings Pivot Plays for The Rocket Mortgage Classic 2021

We've scoured the DraftKings GPP ownership projections looking for the names that are setting up to be extremely popular in GPP tournaments. More importantly, I'm going to tell you about 2 other players with as much upside at significantly less projected ownership. Ownership leverage and equal or greater upside from the players we're pivoting away from is the name of the game every week for the Pivot Point article.

Popular DraftKings GPP Plays & Pivots

Webb Simpson $10,600 - 12% projected

I love Webb in this spot. There is no way I am going to play Bryson this week as the top priced guy at that ownership. I’m not concerned about any lingering neck issue, and I believe Webb shows up in Detroit ready to contend. Over the past two seasons, Webb ranks 1st in this field in total strokes gained and birdie or better percentage in easy scoring conditions. Webb did make the trip to Detroit in 2020 and fired an impressive 64 on Friday on his way to a T8. The Ryder Cup is upon us and it’s time for Webb to start shining if he expects to make the trip to Wisconsin in September.

Mito Pereira $7,000 - 3% projected

For the first time since Wesley Bryan in 2016, Mito Pereira has been promoted to the PGA Tour via the three win rule. I’m actually surprised that this hasn’t happened since 2016 with so many good players coming up through the ranks like Willy Z and Scottie Scheffler but here we are.

Pereira just went back to back on the Korn Ferry Tour winning the The Rex hospital open at -21 and the BMW Charity Pro-Am at  -27. Over the course of those 8 rounds, Mito recorded 50 total birdies and 2 eagles. Sure there is stronger competition on the PGA TOUR, but Detroit Golf Club is going to be set up like an all you can eat birdie buffet. It's tough to find a young kid primed to score like Mito has proven to do. Along with his PGA TOUR promotion, Mito will be representing Chile in the Olympics alongside Joaquin Niemann.
