CJ CUP 2020 | PGA Tour

Let’s get you set to see some green screens on DraftKings this weekend. With Covid-19 still very much a worldwide concern, the annual PGA Tour asian-swing has been cancelled leading to two straight weeks in fabulous Las Vegas and the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek.

What's up golf addicts! Friend of the podcast, AC here, checking in here week to week to simply provide a quick recap of the Tour Junkies Podcast for the week. I won't cover all of the picks and insight (you need to listen to the show), but I'll give you a few.

Hopefully some of you cashed in on as much as a 275-1 outright ticket on Party Marty Laird last week. Laird broke a seven-year winless drought capturing the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin late Sunday evening out dueling Matthew Wolff and Austin Cook on the second playoff hole to claim the title.

This week, we are in for a treat. Shadow Creek!

The CJ Cup at Shadow Creek features no-cut and four full rounds for 78 of the world’s best. Consisting of the top-60 in the 2019-20 Fedex Cup rankings, sponsor exemptions, and a handful of the top Korean tour players. Though no official tour events have been played at the course, golf fans have been privy to seeing Shadow Creek televised when Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson faced off in ‘The Match’ back in 2018.

Shadow Creek Course Preview

The legendary Shadow Creek is the venue for the PGA Tour hopeful this week. North of Fremont Street and hidden away from the lights of the Las Vegas strip sits the brainchild of billionaire casino mogul Steve Wynn and famed architect Tom Fazio. A few yards over 7,500 this Par 72 takes you out of the desert and surrounds you with a lush, green, and tree-lined oasis.

Once again the Vegas heat and altitude will give the boys a benefit in distance but Shadow Creek should play much tougher than TPC Summerlin. Dustin Johnson holds the course record after shooting a 65 alongside father-in-law Wayne Gretzky back in 2015. Accuracy off the tee will be important this week and Fantasy National Golf Club’s opportunities gained stat will be key.

Shadow Creek features bent grass greens which resemble that of Augusta National with the tiers and undulation. The course is filled with ups and downs, slopes, and a lot of trees. Fairways gained and greens in regulation should be a big benefit this week. Also, if you are a lover of animals like me, wildlife calling the course home include mallards, blue herons, snowy egrets, road runners, and white swans.
