US Women's Open 2021 Betting Picks

WELP. I will spare the recap of picks from last week as I can sum it up with the fact Carlota Ciganda was assessed a slow play penalty after the round which resulted in a loss of hole…when the match was all square on 18…she birdied to win…then lost the hole and match due to said penalty. So, yeah let's move on. It's always a treat when we get a glimpse of Shadow Creek with Ally Ewing securing her second win on tour beating out Sophia Popov 2&1 after the long week was said and done. The other newsworthy thing to happen that caused a bit of drama is Shanshan Feng straight up conceding her 3rd place match. Having played 22 and 19 holes in the prior two rounds. In the Vegas heat. Don't blame her at all, would have done the exact same thing. Some people just want to find something to complain about.

Now that that's wrapped up, welcome to US Open week! This week we visit the Olympic Club. We haven't seen this course host a Major tour event since Webb Simpson won the men's US Open in 2012. Situated between the Pacific Ocean and Lake Merced, this place can see some wind kick up and cause quite a bit of trouble, making the long and narrow course even tougher, add that together with the tiny greens and we should see a real test this week but remember as always whoever golfs their ball better than the field will have the best chance to win.

25/1 & lower

So Yeon Ryu- 15/1 (Pointsbet)

I've been holding off writing her up waiting for this event even though she has been consistently playing some great golf that would have warranted it. Her number definitely has gotten short but it is deserved. The two time major champ has the skill set to add a second US Open title to her resume.

Nelly Korda- 16/1 (PointsBet)

We all know what this means… bet Jessica. Nelly’s last start wasn't exactly ideal (from a picks article perspective) and it's not really earth shattering news but I expect she is gonna break the dam on wins here sooner rather than later. She has the swing and the talent to do so.

25/1-70/1

Patty Tavatanakit- 28/1 (DK Sportsbook)

It's quite possible she is playing some of the best golf on any tour. She missed her first cut after winning the ANA but since then she has gone 3rd-3rd-5th. She already has a 5th place to her name at the US Open. If Nelly doesn't take a step up and win everything in sight I can see Patty being the one to do so.

Lexi Thompson - 33/1 (DK Sportsbook)

They're gonna hang a number like this on Lexi at the US Open. I’m gonna take that any day of the week, regardless of form.

Long Shots

Rachel Heck - 125/1 (DK Sportsbook)

Well this one isn't gonna be sneaky at all, as her odds have already tumbled. The Stanford product is 6th in the WAGR. In 2021 she has gone 1st-1st-1st-1st-3rd-2nd-11th-1st so far with the most recent string of wins allowing her to claim the NCAA championship. She knows how to win… obviously.

Rose Zhang - 200/1 (Pointsbet)

Might as well make it a pair of the amateurs up here in the longshot range the WAGR #1 finished last year's US Open in a tie for 67th. Other than that recently she's had a 2nd on the Symetra tour and a 3rd at the Augusta Women's Amateur. Going with the raw talent versus the rest of the players in the range here. Oh I forgot 33rd at the Lotte Championship.
