Honda Thailand 2021 Betting Picks

Oh hi there, me again. Let's look back at a bit of heart break last week in Singapore. Hyo-Joo Kim absolutely barnstormed the leaderboard Sunday (Saturday?). Let's just say final round with a 64 to beat Hannah Green by one stroke whom we had on our betting card last week. To say I'm a bit sour after that is an understatement but it was a round truly deserving to take home that win.

Now we move on to Thailand and the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course. The Par 72 has seen winners finish anywhere from -14 to -25. For a second week in a row we have a limited field event with only 72 players.

Amy Yang is your defending champion, she is also a three time winner of this event. As always, whoever golfs their ball better than the field will have the best chance to win.

25/1 & lower

Hannah Green - 18/1 (DK Sportsbook)

I’ve backed Hannah at 66/1 then 33/1 and now 18/1. I might be a masochist, actually I know I'm a masochist.  3rd and 2nd the last two weeks.

Amy Yang - 22/1 (PointsBet)

Well if you look at the tournament results she has won every other year since 2015. Winning all the odd numbered years. So with no tournament last year does she win this one since it's odd numbered? Or is it still technically the off year so she doesn’t win? Darn you covid for throwing my highly scientific pattern analysis out of whack.

25/1-75/1

Moriya Jutanugarn - 25/1 (PointsBet)

First of two Thai golfers I'm targeting in this range. After missing the cut at the Lotte Championship, she’s bounced back with a 17th and 16th in her last two events. Top 10 in her last three appearances at this event. Seeking her second lpga win.

Patty Tavatanakit - 28/1 (DK Sportsbook)

She missed her first cut back after becoming a major champion. Understandable. Last week she seemed to find her groove again making a final round charge to finish in a tie for 3rd. This week we head to her home country where she first played this event as a 16 year old. Might be some added pressure but as we saw at the ANA she has the game to win.

Long Shots

Gerina Piller - 150/1 (DK Sportsbook)

Not much I find intriguing in the long shot range in the short field but Gerina has had back to back 17th place finishes, Has a prior top 5 here but that was quite a few years ago.

Marcus’ Unadvisable Doubles

Green x Rahm 208/1

Green x Hovland 398/1

Patty T x Rahm 318/1

Patty T x Hovland 608/1

Last week’s results

Jin Young Ko - 24th

Hannah Green - 2nd

Jeongeun Lee6 - 21st

Mel Reid - 28th

Wei Ling Hsu - 35th
