US Open 2020 | 10 (Nay) 20! Key Stats

Another Major Championship week is upon us as the US Open pulls up at Winged Foot in New York. We’ve got 15 Key Stats you need to know before narrowing down the players you’re betting on this week. Remember, the cream will likely rise to the top when the winning score is projected around par or worse. The average odds for previous winners of the US Open in recent years have been around 40/1. This is not a week for long shots. Recent winners have ranked within the top 30 in world golf ranking and arrived in solid form. Winged Foot does not appear to be a place where a player should arrive needing to “find it” in terms of ball striking.

Winged Foot videos are a plenty already as they scare the fresh hell out of us with rough basically shin high. By all reports, the USGA plans to set this course up to play firm, fast and extremely penal when you miss the fairway and green surfaces. Our caddie friends already on the ground have also confirmed that these Poa greens are indeed rather bumpy. Bumpy, firm and fast Poa greens will be difficult to predict and likely neutralize historically great putters somewhat. It’s all about ball striking and GIR this week. Plus, sprinkle in the mental aspect and look for grinders, patient players that know when par is a good score and don’t try to do too much.
