Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open – Gullane GC – Scotland

With one more week to go until the oldest of all the majors, the players get one last chance to grab a late spot at The Open with 3 places available for those that finish in the top 10 come Sunday and not already on the start sheet. For those already fortunate enough to have that golden ticket this links challenge provides the ideal opportunity to work on their links game in tournament conditions before heading to Carnoustie.

A strong field gathers at Gullane GC for the Scottish Open and the final instalment in this run of three Rolex Series events.  Unfortunately the withdrawals of Stenson, Fleetwood and Noren have taken some of the sparkle from the original list, however, amongst this strong field we warmly welcome some big names from the PGA tour including Rickie and Kuch who finished 1st and 2nd the last time it was played here, Rose, Reed and controversial lefty just to name a few.

The course on offer this weeks is a very traditional links, made up from 16 holes from Gullane 1 and 2 holes from Gullane 2, resulting in he same composite layout used for 2015 but now measuring 7,133 yards, still with a par of 70 but playing much shorter as the fairways are much firmer this time around and playing just as a true links course should.

Anyway with that short intro and a little detail on the course out the way lets get straight into the picks this week and hope for a little more luck to be by the side of our drafted players than England had in tonight’s Semi Final World Cup game.
