Jambands.fm – New Live Music Tracker

jambands

Jambands.fm is in the process of launching this week. This new tracker will cater to the Jamband and Live Music Community. The vision: to have a central place to download all those shows we want, be able to actually download them (seeders present), and have a search feature that actually works (so we can find them).

If you would like to get on, feel free to shoot an email to invites@jambands.fm requesting an invite.

Festival 8

Going to Festival 8

Strange name for a festival, right? We just got our tickets yesterday and are pumped for the show. 8 sets of Phish, over the course of 3 days will be a great treat in late October.  And to top it off it will take place in sunny California.

Should be a good time at the Polo Club.

10,000 Lakes Festival

The lineup for this festival is amazing, this is one time I wish I were in Minnesota. With Panic, Umphrey’s, Tea Leaf Green, Steve Kimock, etc all playing in one spot that place had to be out of control. I never made it up to 10,000 Lakes myself, but its making me want to go next year.

Just waiting to hear some of the music from this festival….

Panic back on tour!

Just started listening to Panic’s recent shows and loving them so far. I have always been a big fan of Widespread, just wish they would come out to the southwest a bit more so I could actually see them. They are doing a short run, 2 shows per stop, and playing great. Excited to hear 10,000 lakes.

Really hope they come a little further than TX sometime soon..

Grateful Dead – 1972-03-23 Academy of Music New York, NY

We only have half of this show (Set 2) to listen to, but its a pretty sweet half. I know the other half is out there, so if you have it share it!!
There is a 22 minute Dark Star on here that is would have sent me into a serious trance some years ago. The Not Fade Away into Goin’ Down the Road back into Not Fade Away is a nice little stretch that ends the show, gracefully as ever.

I’m including the lossless and lossy versions on here.

This show is another piece of Grateful Dead history. Download it. Listen to it. Love it.

Live at the Roxy

Phish played the Roxy in February of ‘93 for three nights in Atlanta GA. Crazy funk came out of those speakers that weekend, just listen. My Buddy shot me the links to all three shows. :-)

Phish 1991-02-01 Brown University Providence RI

So many years have gone by since this show was played and it is still so good. This was the first performance of Guelah Papyrus as well as Chalkdust Torture, two amazing songs. Kinda crazy to hear something like this, I mean as many times as these two songs have been played since then.

Ratdog 08/09/95 Hampton Beach, NH – Club Casino

Jerry Garcia was like a brother to Bob Weir, the two having spent an incredible amount of time and energy together. They spent more of their lives together than most siblings or best friends ever will. I’m sure there were happy times, sad times, and times where they wanted to throw each other into a wall.

Listening to Bobby’s voice during this show reveals intense feelings of all sorts. The man lost a good friend, one who he had spent over half of his life traveling and playing music with. These two men achieved a bond that most humans will never know nor understand. I have yet to tolerate anyone as half as much as these two tolerated each other.  Any issues they may have had between them were definitely put behind this night, and the show that was played was played with a great deal of heart and respect.

I don’t know about anyone else, but the end of this show makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. This was a truly moving show, one everybody should hear all the way through at least once.

Anyways, here are links to both the FLAC and the V0 version of this show.

Phish 1988-01-27 Gallagher’s Waitsfield VT

Here’s a show from ‘88, when they played in Waitsfield, Vermont. This is classic live Phish right here, just going to town. I love hearing older shows like this, especially when the quality is so good.
I would have liked to enjoy some of these early ones, but did not get around till the late 90’s, when the Phish had already matured a bit. By the time I was seeing shows they were playing venues like the Hampton Coliseum, Tweeter Center, and Shoreline Amphitheater.
The whole first set is straight funk, opening with Funky Bitch then Mustang Sally, AC/DC into Possum. They continued with a Jesus Left Chicago, Sneakin Sally, and then Alumni Blues (one of my favorite early tunes). Check out the rest of the setlist!
